Popps Packing is excited to announce an open call for its Spring/Summer 2026 Artist Residency.

Founded in 2012, Popps Packing is an international artist-in-residence program housed in a 4,500 sq/ft former meat-packing plant on the Hamtramck/Detroit border. The residency offers generous studio space and has hosted over 100 artists working in immersive, studio-based practices within an active, community-centered environment.

Open to emerging, mid-career, and established visual artists working in all studio-based disciplines. Facilities are best suited for sculpture, installation, architectural and landscape-based projects, photography, painting, film, and research-based work. Two artists are hosted concurrently.

The residency provides visiting artists with many opportunities to connect to a large network of local artists, resources, organizational and institutional partners, and neighbors through exhibitions, events, shared meals, and informal gatherings.
