Carroll University’s Visual, Interactive, and Performing Arts Department (VIPA) seeks exhibition proposals for the 2026–2028 academic years. Professional and emerging artists may apply for solo or small group exhibitions. 

The Joyce Paddock Bliss Gallery serves as an educational resource for the Carroll University and Waukesha, WI communities. We welcome innovative proposals that contribute to a diverse cultural landscape. The selection committee will consider visual artists working in a variety of media including the traditional media, film/video, installation, social practice, and new media. Criteria for acceptance include comprehensive evidence that the artwork considers major concepts, themes, materials, and is formally produced and professionally prepared for installation.   

The Joyce Paddock Bliss Gallery has four available exhibition slots and offers approximately 530 sq. feet of space. Each exhibition will be on view for approximately six weeks. Specific dates will be determined at the time of acceptance, but availability for 2026–28 is listed below:  

October–November 2026
February–March 2027
October–November 2027
February–March 2028  

The institution will provide the selected applicants with a $400 stipend in exchange for their participation. It may be used towards lodging, travel, or shipping costs. On-campus housing is not provided.  

Please be prepared to upload the following required documents in a shared URL (Google, Dropbox, Sharepoint) folder:
• Resume or CV. (PDF or Word)
• Work Samples (5-10 images). Images must be high resolution JPEG files, 72ppi, and 1280 pixels on the longest dimension. File names = LastName_ArtworkTitle.jpg.
• Direct URL(s) to video or time-based artwork. Maximum running length = 5min/file. The links may be excerpts from longer works. Indicate special instructions for the committee if necessary. (PDF or Word)
• Artwork Inventory Sheet. Include thumbnail image of artwork, dimensions, media, and year. (PDF or Word)
