Call for Art Exhibition: Red is a Shade of Pink
Type: Exhibition Opportunities [View all]
Posted by: Resonator Gallery, Lincoln, Nebraska
Deadline: Thu, April 30th, 2026
About the Exhibition
We as Queer people have always existed in rural places, small towns, and politically conservative regions. Red is a Shade of Pink highlights the ways we, the Queer people living in traditionally “red” and conservative places, can thrive when we create meaningful spaces for ourselves. This exhibition seeks artwork that reflects the complexity of Queer life in these spaces. We are interested in work that speaks to themes such as: belonging and chosen family, rural Queer identity, visibility and invisibility, joy in everyday life, landscapes and environments that shape Queer experience.
Artists are encouraged to interpret these ideas broadly and personally.
Submission Guidelines
We are accepting visual art in any medium, including but not limited to drawing, painting, photography, printmaking, sculpture, ceramics, fiber, and mixed media. Please submit work which is reasonably sized for shipping (under 36 inches in any dimension unless otherwise arranged).
Artists should submit up to 5 artwork and an artist statement (less than 500 words) to the Google Form or to lindsey.s.weber@gmail.com. Selected work must be delivered by May 20th for exhibit at the Resonator Gallery in Lincoln, Nebraska during June 2026. Artists are responsible for the shipping of their work.
About the Curators
Lindsey Weber is a Nebraska-based artist and educator whose work explores memory, rural identity, and queer experience through drawn layered imagery and printmaking. Weber’s practice often examines how personal narratives and mental health intersect for Queer folks in rural places.
Keith Buswell is a printmaker and artist working with themes of community, queer identification and stereotypes. His work looks to nature to break down the artifice of the human condition while establishing a new normativity in those who have historically been ostracized.
