The Kresge Gallery at Lyon College extends an invitation to artists and scholars to submit proposals for solo exhibitions for the 2026–2027 and 2027–2028 gallery seasons.

The Kresge Gallery functions as both a pedagogical laboratory and a dynamic platform for creative exchange, fostering critical discourse within the community. We welcome proposals that engage diverse media, innovative approaches, and conceptual thoughtfulness to enrich the academic environment through painting, printmaking, sculpture, new media, craft, and site-specific installations. The gallery, situated within the historic Alphin building at the heart of Lyon College’s liberal arts campus in Batesville, Arkansas, comprises approximately 600 square feet and 100 linear feet of wall space. Selected artists will benefit from professional assistance during installation and deinstallation, exhibition promotion, an artist reception including an artist’s or curator’s talk, and a small stipend to support shipping and travel. Additionally, honoraria are offered to those who facilitate demonstrations, workshops, or student critiques to our campus community.

During installation periods, undergraduate students enrolled in the Gallery Practicum course engage directly with exhibiting artists, gaining invaluable experiential knowledge and insight into contemporary exhibition practices. Proposals for solo exhibitions are reviewed by a committee of distinguished art faculty, curators, educators, and practicing artists.

Applicants are asked to submit the following materials, compiled into a single PDF document:

A brief description of your artwork and proposed exhibition (500-750 words)

10-12 images with title, medium, size, and date

Current CV

artist’s statement
