The Audain Research Chair for the Automatistes at the Musée national des beaux-arts du Québec is launching a call for papers for an international symposium to be held from January 27 to 29, 2027, in Québec City.

Organized in the context of the opening of the Riopelle Space, this event will bring together the research, creative, and cultural sectors for a major scientific, cultural, and public gathering.

The symposium is grounded in a historiographical and epistemological approach and aims to:

·       examine the frameworks through which artists are celebrated and works are institutionalized as heritage;

·       analyze the transformations in museological practices and regimes of visibility associated with a monographic legacy;

·       foster the development of critical and innovative methodologies for the valorization of marginalized corpora.

We invite individuals working in research, creation, and cultural programming to submit a proposal in one of the following areas: creation, institution, and knowledge.

Submission deadline: June 15, 2026
Symposium dates: January 27, 28 and 29, 2027
Location: Musée national des beaux-arts du Québec, Québec City
