BRON Research Centre – Brugge
BRON is the new research center of Musea Brugge (which includes Groeningemuseum, Museum Sint-Janshospitaal and Gruuthusemuseum in Bruges, Belgium). Please see: https://www.museabrugge.be/collecties/bron. Inaugurated in November 2025, it promotes and facilitates the study of the collections of the Bruges Museums. Research projects that relate to the core strengths of the museums and focus on works of art from the collections (paintings, drawings, prints, sculptures and decorative arts) are welcomed, in particular early Netherlandish painting and the “long 19th century”.
Students whose dissertations will particularly benefit from collection, library and archival holdings in Bruges and Belgium are strongly encouraged to apply. Fellowships started in September 2025 are ongoing yearly. Please apply at: https://baef.be/research-fellowships-us/
The Rubenianum
The Rubenianum promotes and facilitates the study of the work of Peter Paul Rubens in particular and more broadly that of his Antwerp predecessors, contemporaries and followers. Please see: https://rubenshuis.be/en/collection-research/research-stays. Research projects should relate to these core strengths of the institute and can focus on 16th-and 17th–century paintings, prints, drawings, sculptures and decorative arts and their relation to culture and society. Students whose dissertations will particularly benefit from collection, library and archival holdings in Antwerp and Belgium are strongly encouraged to apply. Please apply at: https://baef.be/research-fellowships-us/.
