CAA News publishes information about individual and institutional members in the back pages of each issue. Details about our categories are listed below. Submissions may be sent to by email to caanews@collegeart.org or by mail to: Managing Editor, CAA News, College Art Association, 275 Seventh Ave., 18th Floor, New York, NY 10001.

Listings are published on a space-available basis and at the editor’s discretion. In order to accommodate as many listings as possible, CAA cannot always confirm receipt of a listing, provide proofs or extra copies, or guarantee that your announcement will be printed in subsequent issues. Late submissions will be held for the next issue. CAA also reserves the right to edit according to house style and space requirements.

Solo Exhibitions by Artist Members

Only artists who are CAA members are included in this listing. Group shows and online exhibitions are not published. Please send your name, member number, venue, city and state (or city and country), dates of exhibition (no earlier than 2010), title of show, and medium(s). You may also send digital images of the work in the exhibition; include the title, date, medium, and dimensions, as well as a statement granting permission to CAA to publish your image. Use the following format:

Matthew Burke. Northern Arizona Museum, Flagstaff, AZ, April 15–June 18, 2010. Tendrils, Tunnels, and Passages. Sculpture and drawing.

Books Published by CAA Members

Only authors who are CAA members are included in this listing. Please send your name, member number, book title, publisher’s name and location, and year published (no earlier than 2010). Use the following format:

Kirsten Pai Buick. Child of the Fire: Mary Edmonia Lewis and the Problem of Art History’s Black and Indian Subject (Durham: Duke University Press, 2010).

Exhibitions Curated by CAA Members

Only curators who are CAA members are included in this listing; curators may be artists, art historians, museum and gallery professionals, or independent workers. Please send your name, member number, venue, city and state (or city and country), dates of exhibition (no earlier than 2010), and title of show. You may also send digital images of installation views or of individual works (include the artist’s name and the work’s title, date, medium, and dimensions; send only images whose rights have been cleared for publicity). Use the following format:

People in the News

CAA News lists new hires, positions, and promotions in three sections: Academe, Museums and Galleries, and Organizations. Please include your name and member number with the description of your new position.

Grants, Awards, and Honors

CAA recognizes its members for their professional achievements, be it a grant, fellowship, publishing award, honorary degree, or related award. Please include your name and member number with the description of your grant, award, or honor.

Institutional News

CAA publishes news items about our institutional members. Please include your institution’s name and member number with your text.

Opportunities

The Opportunities section of the CAA website, which presents calls for papers and entries, conference notices, and grant and fellowship opportunities, is only available online. Listings are no longer be published in CAA News. Those who wish to have their listing appear in the newsletter may purchase a classified ad. Opportunities listings for the website are accepted through an online form.

Digital Images

CAA News accepts only digital images for publication; please do not send slides, photographs, or transparencies, which will not be returned. Please make sure that your JPEG or TIFF is at least 300 dpi/ppi.

CAA News Submission Deadlines

Newsletter deadlines are set about six weeks before publication:

  • July 31, 2010, for submissions to the September 2010 issue
  • September 30, 2010, for submissions to the November 2010 issue
  • November 30, 2010, for submissions to the January 2011 issue
  • January 31, 2011, for submissions to the March 2011 issue
  • March 31, 2011, for submissions to the May 2011 issue
  • May 31, 2011, for submissions to the July 2011 issue
